Arnie Shankman is a Buddhist monk and Dave Buznik's childhood bully. He is portrayed by John C. Reilly.

History[]

Anger Management[]

In 1978, Arnie Shankman was a bully who tormented all of the local kids in Brooklyn, New York. Despite this, Dave Buznik admittedly felt bad for him, due to sister going insane.

At a block party, during a brief game of Truth or Dare between Dave and his childhood crush, Sarah Plowman, with Sarah daring Dave to kiss her, Arnie decides to take advantage of Dave being distracted as he leaned in for his would-be kiss with Sarah, pulling down Dave's gym shorts and underwear seconds before Dave would have successfully kissed Sarah, which not only ruins the first kiss between the two, but also embarrasses Dave in front of everybody, with everybody including Sarah laughing at Dave. This leaves Dave with lasting trauma about public affection, as well as repressing his emotions.

Years later, Arnie became a Buddhist monk and was remorseful for his previous behavior, except for pulling down Dave's gym shorts and underwear when they were still kids.[1]

Trivia[]

  • Before he pulled Dave's gym shorts and underwear down, he was giving a kid on roller skates a wedgie, while yelling, "Wedgie! Wedgie! Wedgie!". Dave and Sarah saw this happen while the two were talking at the block party before they played Truth or Dare, and they did nothing.
  • After he pantsed Dave, Arnie taunted him again after Dave had already pulled his gym shorts and underwear back up, saying, "Got any mustard for that cocktail frank, butt-lick?"
  • He has a sister who went insane during childhood and appears to still be insane in adulthood.
  • it is unknown if his sister is older or younger than him.
  • His sister wears glasses.
  • It is hinted at that Arnie bullied the other kids since his sister had to go to an insane asylum, so he lashed out and bullied the other kids in response.
  • He pushed David around and called him nasty names, such as "butt-lick".
  • He also gave another boy a wedgie where his underpants (briefs) were hanging outside of his shorts in the aftermath.
